My father overheard the following conversation between a mother and her visiting son.
Mom: Where were you yesterday? The whole family got together and you weren't there.
Son: Really? Where did you go? What did you do?
Mom: We went hunting.
Son: Oh. What were you hunting?
Mom: Dinosaurs.
Son (laughing): Did you get anything?
Mom: Yes, we got a big one but I don't know what to do with all the meat.

Happy Birthday to my girl!
Brooke's 1st birthday |
Happy Birthday to my oldest daughter.
Is it possible that 24 years have passed since you made me a mother?
Brooke 1 day old |
Brooke looked just like her daddy. Remove the hair bow and change the picture to black and white and one would pass for the other.

And it was love.

My Brooke has grown up to be a wonderful woman. People used to compliment me on what a sweet and thoughtful person she is. I tell them she came that way. Brooke is always observing and tries to act when she sees a need. Many have been recipients of her sweet notes, cards or perhaps her famous brownies.
Brooke the helper |
And this picture I'm throwing in because it shows her beautiful smile, hair color and natural curls and she is wearing one of my dresses from the 60's. I think it is so fun that my mom saved some of my clothes and they will be passed on again to the next generation.

Now my girl is finishing up school at my Alma Mater. Do you think we might have influenced her in that decision early on? Seriously, both my girls wore this and both ended up at BYU. My son did not wear this and is not at BYU. Is that sufficient evidence?
So Happy Birthday to my wonderful daughter. Wish I could be there to celebrate it with you. And not just because there is chocolate cake involved.
